Dear colleagues, We are happy to invite you to the Two Days National Conference on English Literature, Language and Media on 24-25 June 2016 (Friday & Saturday) being organized by the Department of English, Yogeshwari Mahavidyalaya, Ambajogai MS.
Concept Note
There is a close relation between literature and our everyday language but at the same time it is influenced by our everyday language and the language of literature. Media has enriched the language by giving new terms and phrases to the language and literature too. It has changed the way narrative techniques have been used in literature all along and the best example is the Nobel Prize winner Svetlana Alexievich’s ‘Polyphonic Writing’ which is simply a collage of interviews and it paved the new way of writing fiction. Use of social media has changed the language we use in our writing. What will be the effect of using contractions, acronyms, use of alphanumerical words, emojis, emoticons in written language give us the platform for discussions in this conference. English language is very flexible and inclusive and has accepted many words and phrases from other languages and cultures. Media is considered as the fourth pillar of democracy and it has responsibility to portray or depict the things sincerely following ethics and values.
